Abstract

This work starts from the premise that Bolivia's growing gas potential conditions a new pattern of international insertion, substantially and positively modifying its economic-energy and diplomatic-geopolitical role in the region. For Bolivia, the abundant certified natural gas reserves represent important consequences for its international role. On the one hand, there is an opportunity to generate cooperation and energy interdependence links with the main regional powers, which, in turn, mean an increase in their relative political power in the region and an improvement in their possibilities of geopolitical gravitation and diplomatic management. On the other hand, this potential also represents the opportunity to consolidate relations of interdependence and balance with its neighbors, becoming the axis of energy integration in the region and thus contributing to a better economic complementation with them.
