Abstract

This article presents a theoretical reflection on the professional competencies of occupational therapists in Early Childhood Intervention (ECI). Based on national and international specialized literature, it discusses the role of occupational therapy in this context, considering institutional guidelines such as those of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the Division for Early Childhood (DEC), as well as Brazilian academic contributions. By articulating concepts such as family-centered practice, transdisciplinary approaches, and ethical professionalism, the article seeks to understand the current demands and challenges faced by occupational therapists in early childhood. It aims to contribute to the theoretical consolidation of the field, offering insights to support education and professional practice.
